This was a good book, and one which others should read to understand the True Valor of these Brave Confederate Soldiers who fought & Died HONORABLY for a Lost Cause. I do not condone all the goals that the Confederacy subscribed to, but I can and do have respect and admiration for these brave souls who fought and died for what they believed was right. The vast majority of those rebels NEVER owned a slave in their lives. If you have any interest in Civil War or for that matter American History, this is well worth your time. It gives you a little sense of the type of men who fought for the South in the 1860's.

Extremely humbled while reading the many stories of amazing, fearless, and yet incomprehensible heroics of the flag bearers during that battle. Men shot down in droves trying to protect or capture a piece of cloth. A waste of valuable manpower when viewed in today's terms, but that was a different era.

Valor and sense of purpose of these soldiers is so common in this book that each story almost seems to begin and end the same way. In that sense, this book was more awe-inspiring and educational than enjoyable.

This book contains valuable and historic information that is not readily available or accessible and I suspect these stories would be entirely forgotten or lost in a generation or two if not published in such a manner. Cudos to Mr Dreese for his honorable work.

Outstanding look at the Confederate color guard soldiers at Gettysburg. Excellent first-person accounts accompanied by maps
showing where the colors were defended and in some cases lost on the battlefield. Great honor was earned and is to be
remembered today of these brave soldiers.
