This is photography at its most tender and painterly. Dont be fobbed off with the cheaper version. This is the only one worth buying. The depth and intimacy are heart opening. Really great photography.

what a beautiful book, it is a real 'coffee table book' for precious moments of quiet reflection, of these wonderful, beautiful animals, how can those awful people kill them for their ivory, barbaric.....

If you love Africa and its animals and enjoy exceptional photography, then this is the book for you! Nick Brandt's images of Africa will blow your mind! There are not enough superlatives in the dictionary to adequately describe the quality of the photographs as well as the final publication. Absolutely superb comes close, but hey, just buy the book and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed!

I have just received this book. It is difficult to find words and adjectives to describe this book. Nick Brandt's work is sublime, and one is in awe. He transcends what people may term as wildlife photography. The prints make one cry with joy and sorrow at the same time, as the beauty and vulnerability are synced as one. It is poetry, art, history, documentation blended into one and more, of the sheer beauty and majesty of what we have inherited and what is being continually lost, and is being stolen from us and we know it is happening. I have never experienced anything like this with images, and it has touched me like nothing else before. The images transports me to Africa, the vast space, the beautiful African sky, and the stunning animals who should equally own it along with its people, where I have never been, but I am. The plates in the book are of the highest quality and jaw opening and makes you wonder as to how can someone can take the portraits and panoramic images without telephoto or zoom. They are just astonishing, astounding totally meditative! Every home, school and library should have one.
