However, having said that, this short book has done more to improve my sleep than anything else I've ever read. Having suffered from varying degrees of insomnia for most of my adult life, and starting to rely on sleeping pills to ensure a decent nights sleep - I was skeptical that such a short book could make any real difference. But it has. My sleep has improved significantly and I have cut down on the use of sleeping pills almost entirely.
Above all this book gives reassurance and guidance for people who's own brains prevent them from sleeping. I now feel much more confident about being able to get to sleep at night, and therefore am far more likely to get to sleep.
The bottom line is that, if you struggle with insomnia, you have nothing to loose reading this book (plus, if you find it boring, read it at night and you'll fall asleep - bonus!)
Nice to have found some practical help that has made me feel a bit better about life and myself. I know I've got to keep doing the work to make it all stick, and will re-read to remind myself of the strategies and exercises.
