Victor Burgin is a thinking photographer very left if centre as a thinking photographer should be. When you are tired of the superficiality of other books on photography, this one is a collection of essays that ought to maker you think.

I wasn't trilled with this book. It is on the Reading List and therefore, like her indoors, it must be obeyed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Burgin- educator, artist, writer what can he not do?! 16 Oct. 2008
By Sarah Nesbitt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book contains essays from other people (and a few from himself) who write on photography. For myself- his writings and of course, Walter Benjamin were my favorite sections. Burgin is one of my favorite image-makers because he really thinks about what he constructs and how it would be viewed by other people. And as we all are fully aware of now, there are people shooting images and having a field day with it, but this book definitely is a good way to SLOW DOWN and think!
