Review

''I wanted to write about what it is really like. How to keep it real and stay sane in the middle of this sporting circus.''--Louis Saha, April 2012

''A gent on and off the field, Saha lays his life bare as he tackles all manner of topics with warmth and humour... A hit across the Channel, it's a refreshing read. 5*'' --Four Four Two Magazine

''A extraordinary memoir...Saha writes with unusual frankness, with intelligence and in polished prose'' --The Sunday Times

''An idiosyncratic, intriguing memoir...Saha moves seamlessly between the personal and the political.'' --The Daily Mail

''Packed with frankness, insight and self-knowledge [...] the book shines with candour, modesty and intelligence'' --Boyd Tonkin, The Independent

''Saha's work bears little resemblance to the indentikit sports autobiography ... An important contribution to the game.'' --London Evening Standard, April 2012

''An idiosyncratic, intriguing memoir.'' --The Daily Mail

This is the best Football book ive read to date. Louis Saha takes you on the journey from his Youth Football days growing up in France right through to his time now at Spurs. He talks openly of his experiances of the World Cup and Champions league gives insight of what managers like Alex Ferguson expect from a player day in day out.
Saha also talks bout how much a Footballer needs their family with a chapter with the views from his wife.
Nice comments from other top players such as Zidane,Henry and Patrice Evra.
The book is written with great intelligence and is a must for any Footy fan.

I'm only half-way through the book so far, but not feeling the love for it. I'd hoped for great things after reading a review in a sunday paper, and usually find footy books reasonably interesting and easy to read. I'd assumed Louis Saha's book would take it to the next level, but have been proved wrong. I think Louis, or the publishers, think this is a more intelligent book than it actually is. First off, there is no chronology, and the chapters themselves jump about all over the place so you're not quite sure what point Louis is trying to make. Also, and for me this is the worst part, the book is littered with lol's. I'm trying to read a book, not someone's text message. At one point, three consecutive paragraphs end with "Lol!". That might appeal to some, but i'm afraid not to the miserable old git that I am.

On the plus side, there is SOME interesting stuff, and the odd fascinating insight. Louis Saha seems to be a genuinely decent guy, too. But I found Paolo Di Canio's book a far better read for a footy fan.

this book stinks of being another dull premier league washed out star trying to come across as an ordinary joe soap. the book dragged, so much so it took me pretty much a year to finally get through it all. Saha regularly drops in his view on pretty much every aspect of society, politics, commerce. Add to that his endless quotes from all his big name pals on similar topics and it soon starts to bore.
