I have just listened to this on youtube, with all of its audio limitations, and it sounds pretty fine besides. This and UK Jive are the only two Kinks albums I don't have. There are some great tracks on here. Yes, there's 1980s production values but the songs themselves are quality enough and can't be ruined.

Time it was remastered and re-released. In fact, the time when that SHOULD have been done has PASSED, but do it anyway for us hardcore fans.

There is a period in Kinks' history which is full of extraordinary but neglected records that keep the individual style of the band adding a strange and idiosyncratic kind of melody that to me delivers an almost magical quality.Word of mouth, State of confusion, and Think visual are some of my favorite records of this period, and songs like Video shop, Working in the factory and Lost and found are among my favorite Kinks' songs of all time.So I strongly recommend this item.

A great album this. C.D. plays well and has much more clarity than its vinyl cousin. Any true kinks fan must have this album.

The Kinks were in chaos when they went in to Konk Studios to record the album that preceded this one, and despite all that Word Of Mouth is a very good album, this however is a more patchy effort. Firstly it was recorded mid 80s; Lost and Found has a dreadful eighties keyboard sound, but there are some good songs on here. The second weakness of this album is that it was mastered using first generation CD mastering, which makes it sound a bit dead. I think that a good remastering would turn this into a much more satisfying album' I wonder why this, UK Jive and Phobia have not been remastered. Phobia in particular was a worthy, if neglected swan song for a fine band and UK Jive is a much better collection of songs than is generally recognised. Don't be tempted to pay inflated prices for any of these albums from profiteers just wait for the inevitable official remasters that are bound to appear in the near future.
