It's not going to set the world of literature on fire, but the book was as entertaining and compelling as I'd ever hope to read. It's unique enough to bring a twist or two to the genre. Reading further on in the series, much of it seems to have been inspired by the world of Elder Scrolls and why not: it's as good a place as any to set a novel. The characters don't venture much beyond the genre's archetypes, but they're as fleshed out and full of life as you'd hope to find. Battle scenes are particularly well handled, with a real sense of fluid movement and scale where its needed. By book six you keep wondering how the poor protagonists keep walking into such life threatening scenarios when they could resolve things with a bit of foresight, but there wouldn't be any books left if everyone made the most sensible choices.

It has all the elements to become an intriguing series, wizards, warriors, mysteries, old keeps, hidden talents and more to be revealed I suspect and very much look forward to finding out. It is also a decent length, well written and thoroughly enjoyable.

I was intrigued by the short description about this book, so started reading it, when I actually came out of neutral reading mode, I realised I was at chapter 10, this story just flows without any need to think too hard about it, with characters, places and things that by their description appear very easily in the cinema in the mind, also known as imagination. I have already purchased the other 3 books in the series, I'm sure they will live up to the expectation of more brilliant descriptive storytelling at its best. A great first of series book, with a great storyline to proceed to tell. Very impressed.

I stumbled across the book while I searched for a new book to read. At first I thought I was reading a juvenile attempt at a first novel, I do not mean that to be negative. The book was excellent from page one. The clean simple writing style allowed me to quickly get into the story. And I am thoroughly enjoying the journey. I think this excellent book would sustain a higher price point. The editing is very professional and the storyline clean and crisp. So far no twist or shock but the murder in the first few pages really set the tone of the story. I like the personable characters I believe the writer is allowing the characters to develop through the development of the story. The magic is very believable and so far and I liked the demon wolves, I read that part alone in a trailer in a dark caravan park in deepest England. I had to keep the light on the rest of the night. I would say that perhaps the writer needs a little prompting to deliver a more varied range of emotions from his cast and I look forward to reading the rest of his novels.

The storyline moves at quite a fast pace, which keeps your attention, and there is an interesting mix of characters. It is certainly excellent value for money, and I am already half way through the second book in the series. Perhaps a bit more depth of description and background about the environment and the characters would make it top rate, but at least the author avoids the trap of too much attention to detail which in some books can make them slow and boring. With this book - the momementum of the plot makes up for the lack of depth. In summary: enjoyable and good value.

Thinblade is nothing original. It's characters are quite basic and it took me a little while to get used to the style of writing. But but once I did, it was a really good read. Especially for the price. It's just a good basic fantasy tale of of a hero, wizards and magical creatures. Will define be buying the second book and have found a new author who I'll be interested in seeing more of his work.

Easy to read but not for lack of content or depth. A story that grips and has you turning pages with speed, completely enveloping characters and action depicted so well that it plays out before you, this is mimicked with every scene, be it simple interactions or swaths of people, I can't say how relieved I am this is book one and I can remain with the characters and landscapes for several more. A perfect read for anyone who likes game of thrones, Lord of the rings, but enjoys the lightness of the hobbit or a Terry prachett, if you enjoy any of the elder scrolls games this would appeal and draw you in.

This fantasy book is a good start of the series, but is a bit woody at times, when the author overuses certain phrases and it does not feel properly "warmed up". However, don't let that put you off - the next three books are each getting much, much, better and blossom into an amazing fantasy world which I simply could not put down. This first book aside, the books become a 5 star story and I now cannot wait for the next instalment.

Also it's so cheap on Kindle and will probably give you hours of amazing entertainment.
