As a thermo container, it is wonderful, 10/10 and does what it says on the tin. It does keep hot water really hot, for 24 hours. I bought it for keeping hot water for baby's formula. I boil water and let it cool for 20 minutes before pouring it into the flask, so that the water will be hot enough for making up the formula when I need it during the night. I had a different brand flask previously, which by the next morning the water would be pretty lukewarm and not that suitable for making up baby's milk. While in this flask, the water is still hot the next day afternoon, hotter than my hot tap water (which is set at 60C).
The silicon bottom and the yellow band near the top also add colour, as well as grip to the body. Especially the bottom - gives the bottle enough friction that make it just possible to open the lid, etc with one hand. A brilliant idea.
Now the cons - I can only give it 1 star for the 'flask' function. The pouring system is so poorly designed. I suppose the two lids are for maximum heat/cold retention, but Thermos, for such an expensive flask why can't you fit it with a better pourer? On this flask, you have to turn the second lid exactly half a turn (a 180 degree turn), no more no less - other wise you either end up with little water coming out, or it spills everywhere. Plus, you have to aim right, with the lines on the lid pointing straight down - otherwise it spills. It is so much a faff. And in the middle of the night in dim light, you really have to make some effort to avoid spilling the hot water and scald yourself. On my old LifeVenture flask the pouring system is a flip - you flip the red flip and pour any direction, it doesn't matter, and it pours perfectly.
For people wanting a hot drink in cold/snow, what would be more frustrating than having to fiddle around with a flask's lid with cold fingers before you can pour that hot cuppa, very carefully?
So Thermos, you have already got a near perfect flask, please improve the design of the pouring system.
Update: Filled up with hot water yesterday at 8am.. it's been out in the hills, coffee poured and the water is STILL scalding hot some 26 hours later.. really impressed. No leaks or issues even after some heavy knocks and abuse the last few weeks.
I was sceptical that this one would actually keep my coffee hot for 24 hours so I filled it with boiling water and it was still too hot to drink the next day.
Whilst it seemed expensive to buy the knowledge that I can carry a hot drink, without leaks, is worth the money to me.
The old adage that 'you get what you pay' for is true.
Keeps the water hot for 18 hours: filled it up with freshly boiled water and left it. The water was still mouth burning after 18 hours and I had to leave it to cool for a few minutes before I could drink.
The silicon rubber protects the base and to some extent the sides on a flat surface. BPA free as advertised.
The pouring stopper works well if turned quarter of turn and up to half a turn. More than that the fluid can come out of the sides of it. You still have the option of opening the larger stopper for more flow. The capacity of the cup (outer lid) is 150 ml. So approximately 6 cups when it is full.
4 star because far too many parts to wash and dismantle. 8 parts in total to wash if you decide to wash absolutely everything for a deep clean.
