I bought one of these a while ago. It's really useful and initially works well, monitoring in real time the temperature inside the item being cooked.
The problem is reliability. After a few months the readings became erratic and random, jumping wildly from 80 to 50 to LLL (= temp below zero). I assumed I'd just been unlucky and ordered a new one.
This arrived and was fine. I also discovered that the original unit also worked if I used it with that new probe wire. So clearly it was the probe/cable that had failed.
Now, a couple of months later, it's failed again. I can only assume now that the probes are faulty or too delicate for practical use.
Avoid.
