With this type of setup it is more like sleeping in a bed. the Blankey attaches to the matress to help keep heat in but since I am laying on the matress I told have to wake up to roll over. It compresses up to a very small size and fits on my bike with little problem. adequate warmth for most temps but will need a heavy blankey for the winter.
I toss and turn a lot when I sleep and regular sleeping bags have always been a problem. They are either too warm or too constricting. This blanket allowed me to move with out having to adjust my bag. The compact size is great. When packed in the small storage bag it is no larger than two 1qt water bottles side by side.
I bought the down version of this product for my son to take to Philmont Scout Ranch last year. He was on trail fro 10 days and said it worked great! This blanket is a little heavier and slightly larger when packed but feels much more durable than the 35 degree down model.
I have been a Boy Scout leader for five years and have about 200 nights of camping over that time. We are in the northeast so we camp in all weather conditions. By combining this product with a fleece sleeping bag I think I can use it from March - October with no problem.
