Product description

Product Description

The Thermalright TR TY-143 140mm x 160mm PWM Fan is a large fan that can be used for many applications. It has a standard 120mm fan hole mounting pattern so this fan can be mounted on any standard 120 fan bracket. The fan comes with Enhanced Hyper-Flow Bearing (EHFB) so you are ensured consistent and stable RPM while providing a lifetime of usage. The seven silent torpedo blades give a very quiet and efficient airflow making this a great selection for CPU coolers.

I honestly always just thought a fan case was just a fan case, a simple device that moves air, hopefully quietly and efficiently. I have tried many fans, bequiet, noctua, phantek, fractal, antec, arctic cooling and many more and to a large degree I was right with my assumption. Fans are very similar in their performance, and basically identical in their appearance, other than their colour schemes and on occasion, their mounting design.
I got three of these at a bargain price, I used two to exhuast air, and a single one to pull air into the case, which is a fractal design R5, I think. Exhausting air, these fans are as good as any, regardless of price, however, when pulling air into the case they definitely have a slight whining, buzzing sound, nothing extreme, but certainly audible. I swapped my fans around, in the case, to try and establsh if the single fan had a fault, but all three displayed the same noise when used as an intake fan. Not a problem as I simply used an alternative fan and employed the TY143 as the back exhaust fan. This could well be down to the vents on the case, and it could well be that others wouldnt have this issue with different cases, all in all a very decent fan.

I ordered two of these fans to use as push fans on my radiator for my water cooling loop. Unfortunately i had to send them back because the 120mm fan mounts wouldn't fit on my radiator. I was absolutely gutted as well because these fans are brilliant. They have good static pressure, shift a serious amount of air and weren't nearly as loud as you'd expect for the performance, even on full. The build quality is very good also. Overall these are the best performance fans you can get for the money. I was really sad to have to send them back. My only gripe with them is the cables are very short, but this is to be expected as they are designed primarily to be used as a cpu heatsink fan where they don't have far to reach and you don't want reams of excess cable to tuck away. Definitely worth buying if they fit your needs.

Think very carefully whether or not you need it. The TY 143 goes up to 2500 RPM, which is quite fast for a 140mm fan. The noise these make manages to be acceptable for the amount of air they're pushing so that's great. These can also go quite slow thanks to their wide PWM range. At low speeds there is a slight hiss from the ball bearings, while the blades themselves are pretty much silent. If you don't need high airflow, just quietness, do consider the TY-147A instead. It has a different bearing and comes in nicer colours.

nice product, fits well with my red and black hardware. Very silent at low speed, can be noisy if not regulated at higher speed. Thermalright should have put some speed reductors like Noctua or Corsair do, but PWM is good when your motherboard handles it properly...
So I'm satisfied with this fan.

Good build quality and the best part about this is the sheer airflow it produces. I use this as an exhaust fan and any piece of paper put in front of it when running at full speed is blown away.
However, I am very dissapointed with insufficient information on Thermalrigh't's website regarding the cable. It claims that the 4 pin can be plugged into a 3 pin connector but sacrificing PWM function, however this is not true as it cannot fit. It is only suitable to connect to another 4 pin cable.
Also, the cable length provided as it is far too short.
If not for those cons about the product it would without doubt be a 5 star.

Purchased two of these for use as top exhaust fans. Installation was easy, but neither of mine came with any included screws which was somewhat disappointing. 4pin PWN connection plugged straight into motherboard and they run extremely quiet and shift plenty of air without any tinkering of the fan profiles.

Would of been five stars had mounting screws been included - Didn't appear to be an Amazon error as both boxed fans were missing them. Poor show Thermalright!

Amazing fan, just to give you concept on how good it is. I owned a Xigmatek XLF series fan, 61CFM. This fan has high static pressure, I removed my rear fan because well, this actually is attached to my heatsink and it pushes a lot more air out of the back than a rear fan would.

Recommended for radiators and CPU fans. Does make an excellent case fan too, very nice looking as well.

Quite loud operating at 40% and very loud operating above that, but they really shift air!
