I expected this to be hard to find and get as it is a Canadian product, but it arrived quickly and in good condition and he loved it

I bought this for my son who had put it on his wish list. He was very pleased with it.

HASH(0x8c9bf4d4) out of 5 stars Great for fans of literature, history, pop culture & humor 4 Jan. 2013

As the other reviewer mentions, this might not be the perfect calendar for folks who are really rigorous about actually using all the calendar squares to mark appointments, etc., but it's great for anyone who wants to brighten up their cube with something funny, smart, and offbeat. A strip or strips from Kate Beaton's excellent Hark, A Vagrant! webcomic are featured for each month; interesting dates in literary history are marked in black on the actual calendar, with important modern-day dates marked in white.

The results are funny, sharp, and droll -- plus you can use this calendar like a barometer to get a feeling for your coworkers' senses of humor.

HASH(0x8c9bfe4c) out of 5 stars Should have looked at it first.... 20 Dec. 2012

On the plus side, this calendar is large and I love the cover illustration. The problem for me is that I assumed that each month would have a nice illustration as well. Not so - each month has a drawing that consists of a clever comic strip type dialogue referencing some work of literature, but it's certainly not a visual interesting illustration which is what I wanted.

In addition, the dates on the calendar are in darkish blue and they have larger-than-I-expected literature references written in them. Since I use a calendar like this to write down important dates and appointments, it's a problem. And even though the calendar is nice-sized and fairly big, the pages are framed with a thick white border so the dates (on which you write) are made smaller.

All in all I hate to give this such a negative review because it really can be the perfect gift for someone who has seen it and doesn't mind the problems (for me) that I've referenced above, but for me this was so disappointing.

HASH(0x8c9c3bf4) out of 5 stars Excellent! 15 Feb. 2013

These graphics are excellently adorable and look classic in black and white. They are for the literarily inclined. The price is a bit high, though, especially since it's more than a month past January.
HASH(0x8c9c4174) out of 5 stars It's a good calendar 15 Jan. 2013

The illustrations are brilliant- smart and funny. The one practical qualm- white numbers on a light blue field on the calendar itself are hard for chronologically challenged persons like myself to read.

I've been a fan of Kate Beaton's comics, and as a literatyre lover, I find this calendar as a great way to enjoy her comics!
