A hilarious story about a dragon who wants to be the hero, but is NEVER the hero. Or is he ... ? From author Lou Carter, a phenomenal new talent, and Deborah Allwright, the illustrator of the bestselling The Night Pirates
About the Author
Lou Carter studied medicine for three years then took a PGCE in primary education. Her work as a schoolteacher sparked her love of children's picture books and There Is No Dragon In This Story is her first (of three) picture books with Bloomsbury. Lou lives in Cambridge with her husband and two children.
Deborah Allwright has become a star of the picture book world following the publication of the bestselling The Night Pirates. She has been shortlisted for the V&A Illustration Award, and illustrated the hugely successful Don't Read this Book! Deborah works in a studio in Islington, stopping only to attend designer clothes sales, and to do a spot of DJing at music festivals.

Bought this for 3 year old grandchild who is going through a 'dragon' phase. She knows most of the traditional fairy tales which really helped. I mention this as had she not known these characters from the other fairy tales the story would have had less of an impact. The whole book is based on the assumption that the child reading it knows of these other stories and characters. Definitely consider this before you purchase.
The illustrations are big and colourful, and help to move the story along. Useful if you're reading with a child with a short attention span.
Needless to say, grandchild loved it. It kept her attention til the end. Also worth mentioning is the quality of the book. It looks and feels well made so should tolerate regular use.
It's a big thumbs up from me.
