Whoops. This might possibly be a basic student level review of a few things which people called their theories of learning, but it starts off by being very obscure and pretty unhelpful about its own project and its own agenda, and goes downhill. There are a few credits to parents and mentors, so I guess 'proving to people that I made it as an academic' could have been the major thing it had as an agenda, but that would be fairly weak as the sole purpose of the book.
I was trying, when I opened, it to survey the politics of different 'theories of learning' as in 'ways of imagining and describing what might be going on when groups of students learn things'. This was exactly why I was disappointed with the book and its firm grasp, for someone wearing a blindfold, of the ideology of education and its influence on the way we think about teaching.

Be aware this is not a well written book, it is very confusing.
e.g. "gestalt psychology started as the behaviorist attack of the introspective methods of behaviorism"

Not what I was expecting and there were grammatical errors already on the first page.

The book has good information in it and is a good review of the field (up to a historical point - it is not necessarily up to date) But the content itself is terrible for adaptation into audo and the attempt of the narrator to do so fails completely. Get this book in print!
HASH(0x906d3f9c) out of 5 stars Paragraphs would be nice. Modern theories, too. 18 Feb. 2013

The formatting in this book leaves much to be desired, and leave the remainder unread. That I am looking for information on practical theories for current use is another reason for that.
