A nice little companion book
on 11 May 2017
Here we have a book which could only have been pitched at the true fan of Britain's best loved comedy series. This 2012 publication, to which the great Del Boy, Sir. David Jason provided a forward, consists of the most memorable one-liners from all the major characters. Therefore, if you aren't already familiar with the show, they'll mean nothing to you, and as this is not a book which delves into the history of all the characters and the programme itself, you'll find no background information to help you understand. There are plenty of good books which do tick the former boxes however, including The Complete A-Z of Only Fools and Horses, which is well-worth the investment.
'The Wit and Wisdom of Only Fools and Horses' is not a very big book at all, it has 160 pages, with two quotes per page in large font, so you don't have to be the world's quickest reader at all to be able to finish it in one sitting. Then again, I don't think this is one of those books that many people will read from cover to cover anyway, but instead, it's something to dip in and out, to pass onto your mate or family member, in order to give you and a fellow fan a good chuckle at some of the most memorable dialogue ever spoken in British sitcom.
The quotations are placed under various chapters covering various recurring themes within the programme, including 'Art, Music and Literature', 'Business', 'Family', 'Food and Drink', 'Health', 'Life', 'Love and Romance', and 'Money', with are lots of good black-and-white pictures of all the characters inside to illustrate throughout.
'The Wit and Wisdom of Only Fools and Horses; is a nice quick read, which makes for a good little companion piece to any 'Only Fools and Horses' devotee. Ideal as a gift, or as a stocking filler.
