This is book two of four in the Planet of Adventure series. It is as tautly written as the first, and once again I couldn't put the book down until I had finished it.
I am not sure why the publisher felt it necessary to rename the book and the similarly named race of beings that form the basis for the second part of the plot. As has been noted by other reviewers, the old name sounds the same as a slang word that some might find offensive, but I think this is part of the modern trend to avoid the risk of offence no matter how slight. An irritation to Jack Vance fans but not worth missing an excellent story.
Jack Vance is the Greatest adventure story writer there has ever been, his wonderful ,sometimes tongue in cheek style, charms, beguiles and carries the reader into Worlds of Adventure. Read the Cugel Series and Planet of Adventure series and be transported.
