Kathryn Simmonds has written a wonderful follow up to her Forward prize winning first collection. Here the lyrical and wit are evident again with poems exploring themes such as motherhood, faith, life and death. More informal forms like the excellent 'Conversation with a Lime Tree' contrast well with the witty yet serious villanelle, 'The Great Divide'. It is a shame Forward don't offer a prize for the best second collection; this would surely be a winner. If you liked Sunday at the Skin Launderette you'll love this collection. Another excellent Seren Books publication.
Poems for everyone. Brilliant! Only bought it originally because I loved the cover and wanted to see if I could become interested in poetry - hooked now and will have to buy everything she has! She is a funny perceptive lady and am looking forward to reading more.
