Generally regarded as one of the best British albums of all-time, The Stone Roses debut album is hugely enjoyable. 'She Bangs The Drum', Don't Stop', 'Made Of Stone', 'Waterfall', This Is The One' and the lovely '(Song for My) Sugar Spun Sister' are all supremely crafted Indie anthems whilst 'I Am The Resurrection' which ends proceedings, is an utterly brilliant slab of deliciously punchy rock and is well worthy of its 8 minute running time. Arguably, Ian Brown and John Squire never hit these giddy heights of creativity again but this is definitely a project which is well worth investing in, especially if you missed all the hype surrounding the 'Madchester' scene first time around.

What can be said about this album...well its joint with The Clash album 'London Calling' as my favourite album of all time. The songs are completely timeless. From the opening bars of 'I wanna be adored' right through to the blistering finale of 'I am the resurrection', this album oozes genius. The songwriting of Brown and Squire has never been bettered than here ( okay, they wrote some genius B sides too, and a half hearted second album). I seriously play this album at least once a week - it's become a ritual. If you have never heard this album, I strongly urge you to, if you already love this album the way I do, then you will know what I'm talking about!!

Greatest Debut album by any band in the world ever. I only give it four stars because I think much more could have been done with the boxset of such a seminal record. Still, as a massive fan who was there buying their 12" at the start it was a must buy
