The Amazon blurb for 'Bob Burns Investigates - The Mallorca Connection' forecast that this, the sequel, would be an even more off-the-wall whodunnit. How true!
Kerr's gift for sharp-eyed characterisation and his wry sense of fun are given free rein in a quirky yarn that takes you on a high-speed international trip of mystery and intrigue. It's all very tongue-in-cheek, but it's a really good detective story, nonetheless.
Peter's trick is not to let the humour get in the way of the essential elements of the plot. Instead, it complements the action. And, as usual, there's plenty of that, along with a large cast of the type of colourful and eccentric characters who have been a trademark of all Peter Kerr's books from 'Snowball Oranges' on.
Recommended for anyone who likes a really gripping page-turned that's peppered with laughs. A rare commodity in the all-too-often dark and depressing world of contemporary 'crime' writing.
