Amazon.co.uk Review

In a nutshell:
The PC and console worlds combine thanks to man’s best friend and a mouse’s greatest enemy. Create, pamper and train your favoured furry companions in the latest The Sims 2 expansion.

The lowdown:
After years of trying to create less complex, mini-game orientated spin-offs it seems EA are now keen to see the PC and console The Sims games converge. This new iteration is an expansion pack on the PC but a full price, stand alone game on the consoles. As the name subtly hints the main addition to the game this time round is a number of four-legged friends, plus fish and birds (although it’s really cats and dogs that get most of the attention). You can also create your own personalised pet via a complex customisation tool that’s just as versatile as the one for humans and on the PC version you can even send your four-legged friend to work!

Most exciting moment:
On the PC this is a perfectly welcome but very narrow expansion. However the full price console version is actually a considerable improvement on the original with an easier-to-use interface, better artificial intelligence and even reduced loading times.

Since you ask:
The next PC expansion pack is called In Season and seems to be roughly analogous to The Sims expansion On Holiday, in that it’ll focus on exterior objects and locations. It’s not yet clear whether there’ll be a console version.

The bottom line:
Finally, The Sims is made to work on consoles!-HARRISON DENT

The Sims series originally started life on the PC but it has evolved immensely in the past few years and new editions are now available on other game consoles such as the Playstation 2, GameCube, Xbox and the Nintendo DS. The Sims formula has always been about imitating real life, controlling the Sims and their lives to complete the specific goals within the game while interweaving fun and humour.

The latest edition is an improved version of Sims 2. It incorporates a host of delightful pets for the gamer to care for. At the beginning of the game you have to choose a character. There is a variety of attributes to choose such as gender, personality and aspirations as well as being able to customise the way your Sims look to create a totally unique Sim that only you can control.

Once you have done that you can then choose the pets that you wish to add to your virtual family. There are a range of cat and dog breeds. The player is able to morph their appearance and personality to create a truly unique pet. There is a vast number of details and choice in the attributes that you can add to your Sims or their pets in this game. This is a really enjoyable part of it. This is what makes The Sims range very different from any other game on the market. The player can control and change the characters very easily whether you are an experienced Sims player or a complete beginner.

Once you have made your virtual family, you can then move them and their furry friends into a house in the neighbourhood, either by building your own or by displacing another family. Only then does the game truly begin.

The main idea of the game is to fulfil the needs and wants of both your Sims and their pets such as hunger, hygiene, energy etc.

I still played PS2 up until about 5 months ago, when I finally saved up enough money for a PS3.

The game is cheap and so original. If you're a PS2 fan, it cannot be faulted, and Amazon is the perfect place to buy all your PS2 games for 'dirt cheap'.

Your sims have a new friend! Pets!!! Over 30 breeds of CAt and Dog can be bought in this game! Not a cat or dog person? Try a Womrat (wombat crossed with a rat), a skunk, a hamster or a parrot! Make designer pets and adopt strays! Make differnet breeds with long tails and legs and and a small head! Has to be the best Expansion Pack for the Sims 2!

You cannot say that just because S2P does not have any children that it is a bad game. It can get a lil repetitive, but it is still pretty good - lets face it you are never going to find a game with NO bad points, it just doesn't happen. Although the game is reccomended highly by me, I think that the PC version is better. However the PC version doesn't work on most computers - shame. Buy this one, it has much better clothes and you can have tatoos and necklaces + a purple dog - if you want it!!! The pets are awsome, really, any breed, creed, or colour! It really is somthing specail. Furniture is also good - the guitar is the best thing money can buy!!

I'd buy it if I were u!

Well I preordered it and got it today (Sat 21st October). I not to bad, just like the sims 2, but with pets. Dont have to many pets as they are hard to care for when you have a career yourself. The disapointment is that there is only one downtown slot.

Buy it. Great game

I am mainly comparing the sims 2 pets on ps2 with the Sims 2 on ps2. With the sims 2 there was an actual goal, with the sims 2 pets there isn't a clear goal, and you aimlessly interact with your pets and teach them skills. Maybe I am a bit biased also as I am so used to playing sims 3 which has advanced many of the features from the sims 2.

I did have the sims 2 and all the expansion packs for the ps2 and i must say they were brilliant. But my PC was very slow so i decided to buy the sims 2 pets for ps2 and i was very dissapointed. Bad points: you can only have 1 floor, you can only have adults, no cars, no pools. But i must say there are some good points: better graphics, better design a sim, you can buy individual ingredients. Basically this game is ok but don't buy it if you have played the PC version.
