Bruna Surfistinha grew up in Sao Paulo. She left school at 17 and became a high-class call girl. She also wrote about her life on her web diary which became a sensation in Brazil receiving over 20,000 hits a day. This is her first book and has already sold over quarter of a million copies in Brazil.

Format: Paperback
This book isn't even well written. It lacks detail and I don't mean explicit detail, just detail in general. You really don't get a sense of the author at all other than that she seems to enjoy what she does. It's called Secret Diary of a Brazilian Call Girl but there is very little reference to Brazil, Brazilian culture or values. The 'call girl' could be anyone in the entire world!
It would have been a much better book if the author had chosen to be more reflective in her writing i.e. added some complications. It's also not even exciting - as such types of literature should be! 'The Almond' is much superior to this.

I did enjoy this. It's not a literary masterpiece. In places it does not read well because of poor translation into English. But the story is interesting and worth the read and she is very honest.
