This is a reasonably well written police thriller set on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland focussed on Counties Donegal and Londonderry. It forms part of a series of novels written by this relatively new author with three books preceding this one.
On the positives, the book is quite well contained and so it is not necessary to have read the previous novels to follow the plot line with this one. However, I suspect that to new readers like me some of the nuances of the plot were lost. The book is also an easy read and comes close to being a page turner. It seems to be well researched and paints a fair picture of this area of Ireland.
On the less positive, the book forms part of an enormous genre of crime fiction. I can't say that this book stands out in particular and I'm not sure I would seek other works by the author out. For other authors writing in this area I would do.
Overall a good book for a long flight or the beach. It falls short of being outstanding against tough competition.
