This story should be called "Redemption", as it is all about a pirate who is fleeing his previous life of piracy and helping out those he meets along the way.

I found the first combat scene a bit sloppy and began to worry that the rest of the book would be as confused, but it picks up and if you can put up with the slow pace, you should enjoy the book.

I am giving this 3 stars because it was entertaining, albeit slow, but it had almost no grammatical errors and was such a relief to read proper English for a change that it is worth mentioning.

It took 82% of the book before any privateering was mentioned, so perhaps if you are looking for swashbuckling adventure the title might seem a bit misleading.

By the end of the book although there was sufficient closure (relief I finished it), there were a number of plots that were not complete. This is possibly due to a sequel.

I liked this book. Can't wait to buy the sequel to this book. The author of the book used good imagery to convey the story.
