Having delivered some successful projects, and trying to forget a few that weren't, now need to deliver in the wider business context of project and programme management. This book covers the bigger picture view of how to make sure projects and programmes deliver the intended business value. In doing so it identifies the likely challenges and options to overcome them. Relevant real world examples are included to illustrate the various solutions. Bought an earlier book by the author, 'Project Manager - Mastering The Art Of Delivery', and found it useful so thought I'd give this one a go. Not the cheapest book, but was money well spent and recommend it.
As MSc Project Management Programme Leader at a London University within the UK and consultant with Orbitus Learning, this is a highly recommended textbook for students. One of the few books on the reading list that provides focus and direction for both students and practitioners alike. Richard provides academic depth and critical analysis of project issues that need to be considered in the governance of multiple projects in organisations. The book outlines the need to manage change but further ensure both value and benefits are realised through the effective management and leadership of projects. I have great pleasure in recommending this book.
