This story was just amazing, completely and utterly amazing. It begins with a kidnapping with the lead kidnapped by gangbangers, one of whom isn't doing it through choice. It's a complicated yet simple story of a kept boy, who ran away from the painful reaction of his church and family when he admitted he was gay. And somehow, something tells him that the right thing to do is to save this gangbanger.

The story doesn't just revolve around the relationship between Dylan and William: it's about family, relationships, friendships, right and wrong; the paths we can get trapped into walking and trying to do the best that we can. But above all, it's about love and how powerful it can be.

It wasn't fast paced but it was engrossing, moving and incredibly hot - it just had everything that a love story should have. I would KILL to see this made into a film, that's how good it was. I adore Z A Maxfield anyway, but this particular story puts her up there in the ranks of keeper forever stories.

I don't know what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised in any case!

A very good read and excellent characterisation throughout giving an insight into different areas of American life.

Give it a try.

This book is better than some gay fiction with more than gratuitous sex scenes to hold it together but ultimately forgettable.
