This is a wonderful book full of familiar names and new voices. My favourite poem is by a writer I have not heard of (but then he is the youngest in the book) Jonathan Caswell. His poem Tears of a Clown (Dec 18) succinctly reflects the dual lives that funny men lead (eg Ken Dodd, Spike Milligan (he hasn't got a poem in here) Frankie Howerd et al).
It's simple, beautiful and insightful.
I hope to read more of his, but until then there is everything and more to choose from in this mighty tome, from Shakespeare, Wilde, Bronte, Byron, Blake etc. The editor has clearly worked hard in putting this together, despite the odd omission, Emily Dickinson, EE Cummings.
