For anyone already familiar with Lakota Culture, this calendar is an absolute joy. The images are beautiful and the paragraphs explaining the various aspects of the Lakota Way are a daily inspiration. Those people who are not yet aware of the beauty and honesty of traditional Lakota values can still enjoy the artwork and perhaps learn something of ideals that would benefit all our lives. The calendar has a clearly set out daily planner and will be a pleasure to work with for the next year. As a beginner student of the Lakota languge I especially like seeing the month names in both English and Lakota, which helps you to see the passing of the year from the Lakota perspective. I will be sorry when this year has gone. I hope there will be a follow-up calendar next year!

This is an absolutely delightful and enlightening calendar based on [American Indian] significantly and predominantly, Lakota Wisdom, Traditions, Beliefs, Values and Principles on ethics and character. How refreshing it is to, at last, be able to purchase a calendar that 'hauls' American Indian People out of the 19th Century. An Edward Curtis calendar is all very well and an essential, vital, historical record but, hey, come on American Indian People thrive in the 21st Century despite the genocidal and assimilationist policies imposed upon and carried out against them for centuries [and continue today, especially, against their brothers and sisters in South America.] These are numerous, diverse and wonderful cultures to be acknowledged, celebrated, respected and enjoyed. All credit to Joseph M. Marshall III for co-operating with the artist Donald F. Montileaux to create such an innovative calendar. In addition to these two individuals, credit should also be given to Amber Lotus Publishing for supporting this project and seeing it through to such a successful conclusion and delightful outcome. This is a calendar that is aesthetically pleasing on many levels and can only hope it is the intention of, both, the creators and the publishers to produce this calendar on an annual basis.
