No real surprises; mini-clues, suspects and lots of damage. It is as well written as any of his other books in the series, but it just lacks the inventiveness, humour and plot twists. Could this be a contractual obligation book?

IT's not great literature, it keeps filling up with mostly unnecessary detail about architecture but i can't stop reading. I can't wait for the next one. Frustrating as the failure of the good guys to finish off the top baddie, it means the story continues.

I've just had a day reading this from cover to cover. Really enjoyed this latest book in the series. Brilliant.

I love this series and this is well up to standard. Disappointed it took quite a long while to appear and publication was delayed a couple of times but it was worth the wait. I know this type of fantasy novel is not to everyone's taste but if you can disengage your brain and go along with the premise that there is magic out there all around us and it needs to be policed, its brilliant.

The story of Peter is enthralling, and it makes you wonder what next?
What is the mystery about Lesley?
Will Bev and Peter make it?
Read on ....

The Rivers of London novels just get better and better. Witty, fantastic on police procedure (which chimes nicely if tongue in cheek with the 'Falcon' nature of the cast and crimes) and with characters who, by now, feel like old friends, I can't recommend this book and the series too highly.

Aaronovitch does it again! A brilliant blend of realistic police procedure and paranormal shenanigans. Peter Grant continues to be a compelling protagonist who the reader can't help but root for.

Another PC Grant that you won't want to put down! As well written as the first 5, exciting and humerous at the same time. Can't wait for the next one.

Enjoyable enough read, but feels like more of the same - another book in the series that appears to tread water and continue the status quo.

Hopefully the next one will build more on the characters and finally resolve some questions around histories etc.
