There are, however some downsides: not all sections of the printed paper make it to the Kindle version for instance. There are no crosswords or other puzzle and only some of the cartoons make it (I miss Steve Bell). Some of the articles are a little “raw” and I suspect that the Kindle version is not the final version that is printed. The most annoying issue, however is that, about twice a year, the paper won’t load down. I ring up Amazon and explain the problem and they suggest a range of actions I can take which I know won’t have any effect but which I do anyway. Eventually I persuade them to refer it to their tech team and they usually sort it out within the hour. I wish they could fix this annoying fault.
Overall I am very satisfied with a few small gripes.
I've given this a good try but the experience has been very poor so I will be discontinuing my subscription, but that will probably be a bit of a nightmare trying to make that happen. They don't make these things easy for a purpose. There is no way to provide feedback apart from this review and so I have probably kept this longer than I needed to and paid more money than I should have.
The reason for only giving it four stars is that it frequently freezes, requiring a kindle restart before allowing me to move on through the articles. The same thing happens to my partner on his kindle, again only with the Guardian.
I would willingly sell my small flat and even my binocular collection in order to keep these publications in business.
My unworthy existence is enriched by buying these wonderfully informative newspapers. (Albeit in e-book form).
My vocabulary is not adequate enough to fully express my admiration for the quality of the journalism.
Being a resident of a certain South Essex new town, it is often difficult to find a news agent within easy distance who stocks this august publication. If I am lucky enough to find an edition for sale, I have to disguise my purchase by putting it in a tabloid or even a celebrity magazine in order for people not to discover my taste.
The Guardian and Observer are beacons of enlightenment and even mild entertainment. I enjoy them very much.
