this is an interesting and well written take on the much visited werewolf myth. it focuses on the characters and their relationship to each other to draw in the reader more than on shock tactics and gore (tho there is a fair amount of the latter). i particularly like the realistic representation of teenage tribulation and how not conforming to an accepted norm can make for misery and tribulation galore! if only we could all have had the option of meteing out a little wolfish payback when necessary!
Really good story. I wasn't expecting to like this book because, like so many American authors, I quickly get put off by the lack of a storyline replaced by blood and guts. However, this book has a very good storyline and the characters build. Nice twist in the myth and well worth a read.
