This book tells the story of the British campaign in Italy from November 1917 until the end of the war, a subject which has usually been ignored or forgotten by British historians. This book is a welcome attempt to redress that omission. Cassar's book is readable and interesting, with a good balance of detail and anecdote which make it useful to students as well as accessible to the general reader. The history of the Italian front in WWI is a fascinating contrast to the more familiar Western Front, and those who have already read about the war in France & Belgium are likely to be surprised. Definitely recommended.
