Every page I turn I think "yep, I know that feeling". Thing is it's far more than just a coffee table book that your nan buys you for Christmas, you flick through, have a laugh at and forget about by the Queen's speech. This book's got layers and detail which means you see something new everytime you pick it up. The writing's sharp and the attention to detail of the graphics and illustrations give it more substance than a typical "Nick Hancock's amusing football anecdotes" type thing. This is not just riding on the football bandwagon but is clearly written by people who understand and are passionate about the game.
Brilliant. One of the best football books I've ever seen. Every page made me laugh, especially the page that said what was in a pie and the one that said my child can pick everything in their life except their football team, for that they pick mine. Totally fantastic book.
As a Brentford fan, success and football aren't normally two words I would use in the same sentence, but working on this book is the exception. It was a pleasure to design such a single minded and stylish take on the subject we all love. This book fills a much needed gap in sport publishing with its intelligent and thought provoking humour. Straight into the top corner as far as I'm concerned, with bend! Buy it now.
If you have the remotest interest in football, you will find this book essential: from the front cover to the bar code on the back. At the current price you can afford to keep a spare copy... A book you can keep coming back to for amusement and edification. Quite brilliant.
...this has got to be it. Written and designed by football fans for football fans this book has the honesty and wit of fanzines, but the production values of something much better. If you have ever watched your team go down to a 5th minute of extra time goal, when the board only said there was 3 minutes, after having been up 1-0 for 83 minutes, you will love this book. I don't forgive them for being chelsea fans though!
