Stokes is arguably the best resource on problem solving in the care of people with Dementia and their troubled families. First he upholds the right to personhood in the person with dementia and does not allow the condition to overshadow what solutions their could be to some real difficult problems. Second, the achievable pathway to solutions and the solutions themselves are mind blowing in their simplicity. Best teacher in the training room. This work book is best resource for self and group learning. The problems are real situations cited in another of his books.
This book gives a great overview of the subjects relating to elderly care and contains plenty of information that is useful for further reading. Not in depth regarding any particular area but good to get you thinking in the right direction.
Different perspective. Not just that people do things differently but rather why they might do them eg seeing peple in their home may be the fact that they do not recognise themselves anymore and they see themselves in mirrors. Thought provoking.
