Light romantic read
on 19 July 2014
Nicholas Dowling left Ireland to make his fortune, he travelled west to the New Mexico Territory and now he's nicely settled he needs a bride, since there's no available women around and he doesn't have the time or the inclination to court them anyway he lets his cousin Patrick in Ireland know exactly what he's looking for in a wife, he wants a strong sober-minded woman, who would know her place. A plain woman unafraid of hard work, a woman built for bearing sons. What he gets is the beautiful lively Brianna McPherson and he's furious, if he could just get his hands on his cousin.
Now Nicholas is very set in his ways, he's obviously been alone too long but I have to wonder what he'd have said if his cousin had sent him exactly what he asked for, but the fact of the matter is he's got Brianna and he has to make the best of it. Brianna is like a breath of fresh air and apart from her being the most superstitious person on the planet she's wonderful.
I love mail order bride books, this one is slightly different as you'll find out if you read it and for the most part it's a lovely romantic read, I had to admit I cringed in a couple of places early on especially when Brianna rolls out of bed but all in all it's a good light read.
