The most obvious thing about this movie is that it is played 100% for laughs, if you've not gathered that from the title and the cover then you may be in for a shock.
Originally known as Beaster Day: Here Comes Peter CottonHell the first few minutes sets the pace beautifully as during his best-man speech a son takes the opportunity to verbally abuse his dad and new much younger bride before exiting stage right pursued by a hare. The creature itself has to be seen to be believed it's a tatty puppet rabbit with no movement at all that hops and growls as it tears into each victim.
You honestly have to suspend all belief here, it is without doubt an awful movie but that was the intention of the film makers, this was never intended to be anything other than a long running joke as obsessive dog-catcher Doug and new employee the artistic but inept and lazy Brenda are the last line of defence.
There are some decent supporting characters here none more so than the seedy town mayor doing his best to do an Amity Island "what shark?" cover-up by blaming the deaths of Amish terrorism.
Please do not buy this unless you are a fan of ultra low budget B-movies, I liked it and it could become Easter's version of The Thanksgiving holiday's ThanksKilling which has a killer turkey on the prowl. The cartoon looking CGI blood effects are meant to be poor and there's plenty of them here as the beast rips it's way through a host of victims, many in various stages of undress.
Warning - may contain carrots.

There is a certain cult genre of B-movie films that are so poor they are actually funny (think of "Plan 9 from Outer Space".) This film is intentionally attempting to be that genre and, on occasion, it is genuinely laugh out loud funny but, when it isn't, it is poorly acted, badly directed, has next to no plot and the effects are often just plain poor. The plot, what there is of it, consists of a giant, rat-like rabbit chomping its way through the local community which appears to mainly consist of large-breasted young women. In pursuit are the local dog-catchers who appear to be slightly less animated than the poorly realised marionette bunny. And that's about it really.

I'll give this two stars as it does have it's moments and may be suitable for a Friday night post-pub giggle but I'd only suggest going for it if it ends up free on Amazon Prime. If you do enjoy a good black comedy-horror then I'd suggest going for the New Zealand film "Black Sheep" which is probably what this film was aiming for and benefits from a coherent plot, decent effects and wickedly robust Kiwi humour.

Read this before purchasing.

If you like movies like Attack of the killer tomatoes, Plan 9 from outer space & Rubber then you'll love this film.

If not you'll hate it.

Shot on a very low budget the giant killer rabbit looks like a mutated Hartley the hare from Pipkins, its obviously a puppet. The movie is scripted for comedy, gore & breasts. Don't expect a deep plot. This movie is marmite in that 90% of the world will just think this is trash. For me though this is cheap, kitsch fun. Potential buyers be warned.
