This book had a good storyline. But i think it dragged in some places so i had to skip to see where it will actually lead. The lead female was a bit annoying but overall it was ok

That’s a promise is book #1 in the Promises, Promises series by Victoria Klahr. This is the first book I have read by this author and I was gifted a copy to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.

I want to start by saying that “I’m sorry it took me so long to get here pussycat” is my absolute favourite line in this book and to be honest it’s absolute saving grace.

Up until that point I had honestly started to despair.

This book is a confusing mind fluck; it flips back and forth in time and is honestly one of the most frustrating books I’ve ever read.

Several times I almost threw my kindle across the room and declared it a DNF. But that one little line, that final glimmer of hope is what made me glad I persevered.

I’m gonna have to rant for a minute so please bear with me. Josie is either the most stupid, oblivious idiot or the most manipulative, game playing cow bag in the world and even after 36 chapters I honest have no idea which it is.

Is she using Blake or is she using Seth or are they both using her????

I must have asked myself these questions at least a hundred times during this book and I’m honestly none the wiser.

I hated Josie and Blake together, it felt forced and fake and a little too flucked up to be real.

From very early on it was obvious what the big unmentioned secret was. I get the impression that the reader was always supposed to figure it out straight away and then sit on tender hooks waiting for the crap to hit the fan!!

There’s so much wrong with this weird love triangle drama quad plot, but there’s one very right thing and that’s Seth!!!

★✩★✩★ 5 Fab Re-Release Stars ★✩★✩★
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

He is the last person I need to be talking to, and the second person I've wanted to talk to since this happened. I know exactly who is standing before me, and I know without a doubt that if I let him back in, I will be hurt and betrayed all over again.

Josie Sommers has been through more than her fair share of heartache over the past several years, and while she has gotten through it, she has been left with some deep rooted scars. In the wake of her most recent tragedy, the passing of her Daddy, she is confronted by more pain from her past in the form of ex-boyfriend Blake. He betrayed her like no other and he is the last person she wants to see, but he is determined to get Josie to give him a second chance, an opportunity to make things right and possibly fall in love with him again. Josie is lonely, depressed, and broken; what she really wants is the comfort of her life-long best friend and the man she fell in love with long ago, but Seth abandoned her and is half way across the country living his life without her, so she decides to maybe give Blake a chance. She doesn't know if she'll ever be able to forgive him, but whats more is, she doesn't know if he will ever be able to forgive her once he finds out what she has been hiding from him. Relationships cannot be built on lies, but what happens when the truth may be more than they can handle; is forgiveness really possible?

Seth had saved me. He'd saved me from Michael. He'd saved me from my fear of intimacy. He'd saved me from everything. Seth is more than half my soul. Without him, I'm barely living.

** I received a copy of this book for a blog tour in exchange for my honest review. This does not influence my review in any way**

Emotional roller-coaster, love triangle. drama and romance. This book had it all and it was brilliant!!!

Wow this book sucked me in so badly that I couldn't put it down I was so drawn into the story that when it was revealed as to why Blake suddenly went cold on her I was taken aback - but having said that once I finished I realized that it was kind of obvious but not when you were reading the story.

Lets back up a bit....I am going to try be as spoiler free as I can but Its really hard as I would love to just dive right in and tell you everything!

Josie is a strong character who doesn't pull her punches, her best friend Seth and Brooke all attend the same school.

Seth and Jo have an almost friends with benefits relationship that resulted in both of developing feelings for each other but neither of them admitting it so when they all go to a party one night Jo meets Blake and that is when the story really starts.

There were times when Jo and Seth annoyed the hell out of me and I wanted to just shake them! And when she was with Blake she was "alive", but when he turns cold and pushes away it left me feeling that he was a bit of an arse for doing that to her despite everything that had happened to her. But come the end I can see why he did what he did...

This book is a roller-coaster - the format is a back and forth timeline which works great for this story line it gives you tidbits making you read more and more to get the bottom of the story.

The ending,..... wow....it left me wanting more, more, more! I must buy book 2 asap to find out what happens.
