Bought with my soon to be 1 year old great-niece in mind as she is getting to the curious stage and is soaking up all information like a sponge. The range of Usborne touchy feely books are well worth the money. They are colourful and have a range of different textures that help children develop language and sensory awareness. They are also pretty sturdy and can tolerate the odd bit of chewing from a teething child! I think they are great and have bought several from the range which comprises Angel, Bear, Bunny, Car, Dinosaur, Dolly, Dragon, Fairy, Frog, Kitten, Lion, Mermaid, Monkey, Monster, Penguin, Pirate, Plane, Pony, Princess, Puppy, Reindeer, Robot, Santa, Teddy, Tractor, Train, Truck and Polar bear due to be published in August

We have quite a few of these That's Not My... books and this one was a bit disappointing.

The touchy-feely bits are all rather samey and some of them are the same texture as the actual page itself, i.e. Shiny. I can't see how that will stimulate a baby to look for the area of the page that's different. The fabric/textured panels all seem really small on this book too. They need to be bigger.

There are other ones in the range that are better. 3 stars.

My baby is eight months old and really enjoys this series of books. But she's not really interested in this one. With the other titles, she shoots her hand out straight away to touch all the textured areas, and spends ages carefully examining each page. But the textured areas in "Kitten" seem to be too small, or to similar to the rest of the page for her to bother with. One of the kittens has a nose that is "too smooth." Well, the whole page is smooth, so where's the fun in that? Baby normally ends up looking away before long. Mermaid, dragon, princess and donkey are firm favourites though!

Another disappointment. We have a small collection of these &my son loves them. Sadly this one is not up to the same standard. Some of the areas are absolutely tiny &others do not feel like the texture described. For example, the paws are too rough but, they are in a snake skin-type plastic, which is hardly rough at all. In other books we have rough is represented by either sandpaper (annoying with baby fingernails but appropriate) or the hooked side of velcro. Overall, no impressed.

All the books in this series are charming, but I wouldn't consider this a favourite. There are basically two reasons: one, if your child is face-oriented like mine, the faces of the kittens aren't as open and expressive as some of the others (Monkey and Monster are particular hits with him), and two, the kitten with 'rough' paws has sandpaper on its pads, and if you've ever heard baby fingernails on sandpaper, you'll know what shuddering is!

The series is great and a kitten-loving baby will probably enjoy this, but if you have a choice I'd personally go with a different one.

Lovely little touchy feely book. I was already familiar with the series of book as my son had a few of them when younger. Bought this one as a first book to share with my daughter, my 4yo also liked sitting with us and reminding me of his books that were similar

This book is brilliant.

We have piles of board books, but this is the only one with pages thick enough for my 7 month old to turn herself. She will lie on the floor and turn the pages while I read the text for her, and we have much fun feeling all the feely patches.

I recommend this one to anyone with tiny folk at home!

These books are a lot of fun with a baby or a young toddler. However, they do get quite repetitive. We have the Dragon, Robot and Monkey books. Upon receiving the Kitten book I was disappointed to notice that three of the body parts/textures were identical to those in the Monkey book - soft ears, fuzzy tongue, fluffy belly. The kittens are cute though.
