Terry Scott and June Whitfield star in this fourth series of "Terry and June".
This is an entertaining bit of farcical comedy that has a lot to offer. Series four has some very fine episodes indeed with true comedy and a warm, comfortable and very experienced approach to comedy.
This Fourth series was recorded in 1982. It was originally transmitted during January and February that year and only weeks after the end of series three. It is still a very entertaining series thirty years later. There are six very good episodes.
This is an excellent set of programmes from a classic comedy and when you consider the stuff that's passed off as comedy these days you realise just how good Terry and June really were.
Each episode has a different and brief comedy intro as the opening credits begin. They are the same intros that were used in season three. Each is a variation on the same idea that Terry takes some drinks outside to join June for a nice sit in the garden. But each version is different and slapstick.
Terry buys a snooker table for a new hobby, but June seems to be better at playing than Terry. Terry tries to sell it and thinks its worth a lot of money when he gets some very high offers. In another episode the couple want a cheap holiday and Terry comes up with a brainwave to try camping and buys an old tent. He decides to test it out in the garden first. But June is less than enthusiastic. Also there is an episode where the vicar decides to hold an auction to raise funds. Tarquine, Terry and June's neighbour is the obvious choice to lead the auction but Terry fancies having a go himself since Tarquine always gets the best jobs.Read more ›
Light, gentle comedy which you don't see much of these days. DVD's like this remind you of a time when TV comedy was not all sneering, cynical and offensive or tedious panel shows.
Great performances from Scott and Whitfield (as always!)
For me June Whitfield is the star. Very watchable as are all the other 8 series.
