It's mostly historical, but is educated when it comes to pedagogical understanding, and gives a plethora of external reading to choose from.
It was recommended to me by a musicology professor who is an authoritative expert on tenors in Mozart operas (Dorothea Link) and has served me well in finding other resources for deeper study.
