This is a delightful reference book with plenty of interesting reading and certainly I'd recommend this to anyone. I haven't actually read it through yet, I've dipped a good deal, which is the most likely way to approach it at first as it's a reference book anyway.

However, I do have a few comments and queries and I would say the writers and publishers were in too much hurry to print - they missed some exceptional events this summer - the whole of the Olympics, Federer's 7th Wimbledon, the British Jonathan Marray winning the Wimbledon doubles, but also they were very careless on the dust cover.

First of all and in my view the most important: You want to sell a book on TENNIS.... yes, a view of Wimbledon Centre court makes a beautiful front cover but if you are featuring any players be sure the great Federer, arguable the greatest player of all time and the most popular player on the Tennis circuit for years and still playing at the top, is there. Also it's well known that Federer is a worldwide icon famous way beyond the tennis tour. So either have no players on the cover, or make sure Federer is there. Fancy ignoring him of all people for the cover. Unbelievable. What a bomber.

This dust cover features the following: on the front, Centre Court Wimbledon and I am certain the two players shown are Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic so I imagine this is the final 2011. Few but tennis afficionadoes would recognise the players from such a distance and perhaps the decision was just to feature the latest Wimbledon final so far, fair enough - but how much better if it had been 2012 final Federer vs Murray - this way you'd include the greatest player of all time and also the first British player since before World War 2 to reach the Wimbledon final.

Although I really like this book I'm a little put off by some of the inaccuracies therein, and it makes me wonder how many more may be lurking. For instance, the book states that Bjorn Borg won 7 French titles (he won 6), and that Nadal defeated Djokovic in the 2011 French semi final (It was Federer, who then went on to lose to Nadal in the final). It states that Nadal is the only male winner of the golden slam but Agassi did it also. I also feel that Chrissie Evert with 18 grand slam titles should be in the 'legends' section of the book to accompany King, Court, Navratilova, Graf et al. And if you are going to put Suzanne Lenglen in the 'legends' section, then why not Helen Wills as well as she was one of the most dominant champions of all? I also agree with another reviewer that this book could have encompassed the 2012 Olympics and the Federer/Murray final of 2013. It would have felt more up to date given that this type of reference work dates rather quickly anyway.

This is a wonderful book. I've been searching years for this. Loads of super photos. All the tennis stars feature here. Pages of data - results, winners' names, dates, years etc. But it is an aesthetically pleasing book - the data isn't dauntingly presented. Put it on your birthday list or treat yourself !!

The title is misleading as there are no records mentioned in this book but only the names of players who won each of the grand slams.
This book has a lot to read but if u want to see any records tables in it u will be dissapointed.

I brought this item for my Mum for Christmas as she is an avid tennis fan. Excellent book with loads of information and details of the whole game from the history of tennis, to great tennis stars of all time, to the more recent tennis heroes. The size of the book is just right to be comfortable to browse on your lap - lots of colourful pictures and illustrations. If you love tennis, you will love this book.
