Tenjho Tenge is a shounen anime created by the acclaimed Madhouse Studios, Filled with non stop action, buckets of blood, and impossibly proportioned women.

This anime begins with blonde knucklehead teenager Souichiro Nagi and his Foreigner friend Bob Makihara starting school at the todo academy; a school for gifted martial artists.
Aiming to take over the school, this delinquent duo waste no time getting into fights and cracking heads, However this draws the attention of the Juken club. The Juken club is led by the pink haired senior, Maya Natsume, who for certain reasons chooses to look like a 5 year old, but is still one of the most powerful fighters in the academy. Other Juken club members include Maya's younger sister Aya who is a ditsy katana expert who claims to be madly in love with Souichiro after seeing him for the first time; and Masataka Takayanagi (A mouthful to say) who provides quite a lot of comic relief yet is still an acomplished fighter.

After getting annihilated in a fight with the Juken club, Souichiro and Bob, realise that conquering this school is going to be harder than they expected, hence they both aim to become more powerful and in doing so, join forces with the Juken club. However, there is still the student executive council and it's executioners to worry about. These guys pretty much rule the school and they sort out anyone who goes out of line. Anyone who gets on the wrong side of the student council is targeted by the executioners for punishment; and in a school dedicated to martial arts, the most fitting punishment just happens to be a good clobbering.

This basic story outline seems like your typical shounen anime, however, that is only true for the first 2 volumes of this set. The first disc of this set is simply superb.

This seven disc set includes all twenty-four episodes of the `Tenjho Tenge' anime as well as the two episode OVA. The series follows Souichiro Nagi as he and his friend Makihara enter the Todo Academy, a school specialising in martial arts. The pair are convinced that with their combat skills they will be able to become the toughest fighters in the school in no time, only for them to get beaten senseless by the supernatural martial powers of some of the schools top students. From there the pair are drawn into the conflict between the Juken Club and the schools Executive Council in a fight for revenge and control of the school.

`Tenjho Tenge' is an enjoyable series with some nice animation and a relatively good English dub. The series has some very good fight scenes, some interesting characters and some nice humour as well. The plot of the series is interesting but it does tend to rely too heavily on extended flashbacks.

The series does have two problems as far as I can see, the first of which is that the series just seems to fizzle out towards the end and leaves the series with a rather rushed and unsatisfactory conclusion. The second is that the tone of the series does tend to flip-flop somewhat from slapstick comedy to serious action and while this in itself is not necessarily a bad thing this series doesn't really pull it off to well.

Overall though this was an enjoyable series that I would happily give four stars to.

By now you've read a couple reveiws on this so i wont go through the synapsis,
Tenjou tenge has some epic fight sences most notabily Masataka vs souichiro in the canteen in episode 2, im talkin BRUTAL.

where the series lets itself down is in the story content, out of 26 episodes 14 are back story, worst of all its served in blocks 4present,7past,4presnt,8past. . . . . . you catch my drift.
so much time is spent on the back story that the main story ends up being very very dull, and worst of all theres no REAL conclusion Souichiro (main character) spends the whole series trying to get stronger to defeat the President only to fight him to a draw and then for him to say train some more and we'll fight again in 2 weeks, End of series. . . WWWWHAAATT!!!!?????

the filler is the meat of the story and the story is vegan, all fight sences are stellar and the characters are all completly nuts, very cool & very likable but the let down, the weak story, if this anime were a fighter it would get KO'd in the first round by the first punch, my advice rent it on lovefilm but dont buy it

Well, I bought this because of he reviews I had read about it.
I must say it is not as good as I expected.
It is not a brilliant story. (about half way it goes to a flashback of the previous years)But I somehow expected it to be a little more funny.
It has the necessary fan service, you get in series like this. And although not in an overabundence like H.O.T.D.
(which can be quite annoying) the latter is way better than this movie.
Why 4 stars you ask. Well I would give it a 3.5 but I can't give half stars, so.
The drawing style is pretty good (well, i like this style), almost all the characters are interesting (and not very annoying)which is a plus, because that is a rarity for me. And the story isn't altogether bad. Just a bit shallow.
