About the Author

Born and raised in Miami, Kelli Jean traded the tropical heat for the arctic. Now she deals with twenty-four-hour daylight in the summer, zero sunlight in the winter, and believes the Northern Lights make up for the mind-boggling amount of ice and snow she has to put up with for seven months out of the year. She’s surrounded by mountains and ocean and sheep, and claims her bizarre sense of humor is what keeps her sane. The insane don’t know they’re insane. Kelli uses her imagination to create worlds she can escape to from the mundane tasks of everyday life, such as washing the damn dishes and vacuuming up Legos off the floor—and don’t get her started on the mad amount of cat hair on the end of the couch. She gave up on that a long time ago. When the household goes to sleep at night, she writes down everything that happened in her head while doing such tedious chores. But she enjoys living in her own head, so that’s pretty cool. Technology terrifies her. She can barely turn on a computer, and was completely shocked when she’d actually written a book on one. To this day, she has no explanation for this baffling mystery. It took her three years to realize she can take screen shots of messages and pictures of bearded, tattooed men with her phone. Now that she’s mastered this task, her phone is slowly dying, and she’s nervous that she’s going to have to buy a new one and it will take her another three years to learn how to use it.

I received an ARC for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I honestly had tears in my eyes just reading the prologue! After that I hoped that the rest of the book was as good, there were a few occasions when I felt like the story dragged out a bit but then something exciting would happen to make me forget that.

This is basically a story of an Author meeting her cover model and them starting a relationship. I say basically because there is so much more to it than that, but I'm not going to ruin it for anyone!
Xanthe is the author, she did take me a while to grow to love, mainly because she is quite secretive at first. Oliver is the cover model, and my first opinion of him was that he was a stuck up artist type he only liked to hang around with the rich and famous. I was wrong he is a very lovable man, I'm not into beards usually but this book just may have changed my view on them.

Xanthe has a group of extremely close friends, friends that would do anything for her, she's a very lucky lady. She also has an absolute hilarious Aunt who I couldn't get enough of! Each and every character is completely unique and I'm hoping we get to find out more about them in their own books. The friends are hiding something big which came as a great shock to me, and there's still more details to be uncovered.

I was honestly expecting a much darker read but it was still a very good story. This book ends with kind of a HEA, but not quite. I'm left needing to know what happens next and I'm trying to think of what secrets are going to be uncovered! I'm dying for more! Four stars from me!

This is one of those profound books that takes your breathe away. A totally new author for me, and I've sworn to try some new authors this year. Although Kelli Jean isn't new she is to me. Sometimes I like to read smutty reads, other times I love to read short and sweet reads, I can enjoy angsy reads and then there are times I want PURE GOLD, a book that takes me places, takes me to the Unknown to a place where I can dream and where it gives real depth into the story so I truly know all characters involved. Yeh this is that book...

So what's it about?
Xanthe is a fantasy erotic author under a pen name keeping her identity secret she's very quiet, introverted to the world yet she has a close knit bunch of friends and family around her. Still she keeps herself secret until she decides to become known and show her face for the new book that's just been released. Plus she wants to meet her Donovan (hero) in her book come to life for her readers. Except her first meet with Oliver doesn't go as planned. Ollie is Donovan on that cover and he's also a photographer and model in his work. So he's well known in the public eye, he is also a ladies man! He is known for his manwhore ways among the public eye. But Xanthe gives him the benefit of the doubt and let's him in, gets to know him and finds herself in the process..

"I've never felt this way about anyone either," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I want nothing more than to hand you everything that I am."

Do you judge a book by its cover? (I'm a book whore) so I'd say sometimes I do and it's easy to do that right? Yet Ollie sees what Xanthe is, her true character, how beautiful she really is.

Ten Thousand Words is a refreshing dark suspense romance with unique characters that keep you enthralled throughout the story.
Kelli Jean is fastly becoming one of my favourite writers. I love how in depth she gets with her stories and how she gives us a dual POV.

I enjoyed this book even though it's a suspense romance there were still some funny scenes which made me laugh. The supporting charcters are so unique that I found myself invested in their stories also. Xanthe is a relatable character for anyone who's had a hard life with devastating circumstances. Oliver is a loveable manwhore who will ignite your fire 😉 and everyone else will intrigue you or make you laugh.

In Ten Thousand Words we meet the nerdy hipster Xanthe Malcolm, an author of a series of paranormal romance books who has just been signed with a publishing agency. On the search for a cover model for the hero of her books she stumbles upon pictures of what she envisioned her hero to look like. This is where we are introduced to Oliver Fairfax a Photographer and the person in the pictures she loves.
After a rocky first encounter and a week together the pair fall for one another. However when Oliver discovers Xanthe is not who he thought, he runs away in anger. Upon reflection and miscommunication he realises he made a mistake and try's to win her back.
However Xanthe has secrets and people from her past threatening to ruin what she and Oliver have. Can their relationship  survive what life is hurdling their way?
Only one way to find out ☺

OMG Kelli Jean has written yet another fantastic book and I can't wait for the second book in the series, you are drawn in almost immediately as you turn each page there is a depth to each character that has their own unique sass about them and I love each one for it.

We follow xanthe as she is living a double edged life under her own name she is unique and quirky but under her pen name she is deep and mysterious, but she surrounds herself with a close unique clan of friends that have their own secrets and this adds the twist within the story as they are loyal and not what you think they are.

Bring in Oliver fairfax who is a artist in his own right and has a fantastic photography company but when his asked to be cover model for the new paranormal hunters he gets more out of that deal than he thought he ever would.
