I was really surprised at how well paced this novella was and how it seemed to pack in an exciting and eventful story, without rushing sections. Definitely hard to pull off when it comes to a novella, but Sabrina Jeffries did it with aplomb! (On a side note, I seriously love the word aplomb)
Colin is a fabulous hero, a bit dangerous and brooding but an honourable man. He's half-Indian, half-English which is a nice change and something different. The spark between him and Eliza was instantaneous and electric, I loved their chemistry!
Eliza was also super, she was so likeable. She's funny, brave and determined- everything you want in a heroine.
I loved all the little 'Gothic novel' references, they made me chuckle.
Overall, this is a fab little novella. It's a quick read, and also a great introduction to new Sabrina Jeffries readers.
*I received an eARC from the publisher, via NetGalley for my honest review.
Other books I would recommend
A Seven Year Hitch
Everything and the Moon: Lyndon Sisters Series, Book 1
The Pretender: The Liar's Club (Liars Club)
I would recommend her other books; but this one, forget it. its a waste of paper.

Ten Reasons to Stay is a part of her School for Heiresses series. Colin Hunt, the hero, in this novella was one of the characters I was dying to know about and although I was a bit disappointed he and Eliza didn’t get a whole novel themselves; it definitely kept my attention. It was the perfect beach day read and gave me some steamy and some sweet words to devour. I just wish it had been longer. I didn’t want the scenario to move so quickly. The characters could have been developed so much better with a bit more time. Overall, I think that this book delivers the sweet and spicy in a short amount of time.
Favorite Words: “So this was what it felt like to be thoroughly kissed: hot and heady and too tempting for words. Even his whisker stubble scraping her soft cheek and the threat of his pistol merely reminded her he was a man, and not some local lad trying to steal a kiss at a picnic.”
Colin is a newly minted Earl who has lived his entire life sensitive to prejudice and bias nipping at his heels. His ill-fated first marriage is just another layer added to the reason for his self-imposed bid for reclusiveness. He hasn't even resigned himself to it when his eye catches someone entering his stables late one night. Once captured the would be thief turns out to be the lovely and fiesty Miss Eliza Crenshaw. She claims she is running away rather than being forced to marry.> This is where the games begin. Ms. Jeffries' clever wielding of the pen brings forth gasps, smiles and down right laugh out moments as Colin really has to work at not allowing Eliza to get the best of him until he can verify her story. After doing so he is determined to not only ensure that her uncle does right by her, but that he does too.> This is a short, sweet and wonderful story which provides a look at racial prejudice in England and India during the Regency period. Very well done and thank you for your contribution to the social conscientiousness of the day.
Eliza Crenshawe seeks to escape her guardian and a match that he is determined to force her into. She sets out to escape, and is intent on 'borrowing' a horse to get her as far as a coaching station where she can book passage for London. She doesn't realize though that the new lord is in residence and determined to keep her from stealing what is his.
From the moment she and Colin Hunt meet sparks fly, no matter how wrong they are for each other, their strong attraction to one another can not be denied.
The only drawback is that being a novella,it will end that much sooner and you'll hate to see you've reached the last page already, but I think it gives you a bit of bang for your buck!
