Praise for "Tempted"

"Cast and Cast pull out all the stops and take this story to shattering new heights with devastating consequences!" -"Romantic Times" (4 1/2 stars)

"P. C. And Kristin Cast have made an absolutely amazing [YA] series. The visuals offered by this fantastic duo are entertaining and imaginative, with nonstop action.... This is easily a [YA] series that can entertain adults with action, hot Vampyres, true friendship, budding romance, a Loving Goddess, and a twist of the unexpected." -HowlingGoodBooks.com (5 stars) "I loved every one of the books in the [House of Night] series. Tempted is my definite favorite.... This book had me ripping through the pages." -Teen review on Flamingnet.com Praise for The House of Night:

"Move over, Stephenie Meyer." -"People" on "Hunted"

"Zoey Redbird's first-person adventures take on added danger and importance in the latest House of Night release. Forced by circumstance to grow up quickly, Zoey's emotional and spiritual evolution is fascinating. The Cast duo breathes life and vibrancy into the characters and makes each one an integral part of the saga. Awesome and unforgettable as always!" --"Romantic Times" (4.5 stars) on "Hunted"

"The Cast duo has done it again! These ladies appear to be an unstoppable force within the world of YA literature... Teenage readers will be drawn to Zoey's everyday, angst-riddled life. Not only does she need to save the world, Zoey needs to solve some major vampyre/human boy drama. These stories are surreal, yet shockingly accurate when it comes to teenagers and their lives." -"TeensReadToo.com" (5 stars) on "Hunted"

"Teenage issues can seem like life or death, but in this haunting series, House of Night, that's really the case. Through Zoey's eyes readers are led into a world that's getting more complicated by the minute, where friends and enemies can switch positions in a heartbeat. The remarkable Cast duo continues to build a world that you won't soon forget!" -"Romantic Times" (4.5 stars) on "Chosen""This highly addicting series offers a unique twist on the standard vampyre story....These books will have the reader laughing hysterically and sobbing unreservedly -sometimes all at once."

WOOOOAH!! Fabby absolutely wonderful!!
This book is so engaging that all you want to do is keep turning the pages until you know all of the wonders and twists P.C and Kristin Cast came up with!!

Soooo, Zoey won the battle against Neferet and Kalona and everyone is all happy and joyful, that is until Zoey is woken up by her own screaming after another visit in her dreams by Kalona and at the same time Aphrodite is screaming awake after another gruesome vision!! It all starts to happen to Zoey and her gang after that with no hope of stopping.
Terrible things keep happening from Stevie Rae's wonderful and awful decision to Zoey's crisis with her boyfriends (which by the end of the book is solved - but believe me you will not expect it, have a pack of tissues next to you!) and her intimate dreams with Kalona to Aphrodite's terrifying visions to Stevie Rea's undead life in peril danger (and the twist which will have you on tenterhooks - will she survive??) and you might think they get better but then it all spirals out of control and what you're left with is an unbelievable cliff hanger of an ending - seriously you will soooo not expect it until it's happened!!

Do NOT focus on the negative criticisms that this book has somehow attained, just READ IT and make your own decision!!

When I first started reading the first HoN book, I was completely confused. The way it's written suggests it's only for immature very young teens. All the books use such childish expressions and are littered with ridiculous comments in the narrative, often in brackets (gross. eww. Whatever!) etc. Yet, the way they all go on about blood drinking and sex is surely for a much older age group? I remember reading somewhere (unfortunately I can't remember where so I don't know how credible this is) that Kristen Cast's main role in the books was to make sure the teen language was realistic. Unfortunately, between them, the authors have missed by a mile, resulting in the above.

But, they have to be forgiven. Because what they have created in the form of the HoN novels are some of the most gripping stories I've come across. And I read a LOT. No matter how terribly written these books are in some ways, the story is just so engaging. The only exception is the first book (Marked) where the beginning is very forced as the authors struggle to establish the foundations of the world that the HoN is set in. To use a cliche, I couldn't put Tempted down!

The first five books have set up this book beautifully. The story is head and shoulders above the rest in every way. A lot of significant events occur in this book. The story is more multi-dimensional than the rest, mainly because the story is not all told from Zoey's perspective. It jumps around among the other characters, also giving the advantage that the book has much less of the annoying childish narrative as I mention in my first paragraph.

So if you liked the first five HoN books, you should love this one.

(kind of spoil alert! :>)Although I will absolutely read the whole series I'm starting to understand why Meyers stopped Twilight on the fourth book! After a while the plots start to get a bit tiring and filling up gets annoying. I'm not very sure about the stereotypes portraided on this book, not all gays are 'crazy about shoes' and not all black people speaks like they stepped out of a rap concert! The language is starting to get a bit to full of slangs for my taste, I don't remember saying that much of it on my teenagerhood, c'mon a little more of respect with teenagers and I'm sure they are perfectly capable of using proper wording. Also not cool with the whole 'sex' tension between Zo and every boy around Tulsa! I'm really excited about the Stevie Ra - Rephaim relationship; it is looking really good so far. I really like Stark so I'm hoping Zo will stick with him and stop trying to portrait teenagers like idiots who can not make decisions! However, like I said I will indeed read the whole series, I hope the authors get the grip of it back together!

Tempted is the sixth book in the House Of Night series. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of this series. I've found it far too cliched and irritating to be good. For me, books 2 and 3 were the best (though by no means great) and the previous book, Hunted, was simply appalling.

Hunted, in essence, was several hundred pages of repetitive talk about what was happening, why and Zoey's complete lack of ability to choose just one guy out of three. I find it very hard to put down a series if I make it past book two though, even if it's really bad. I saw this cheap on Amazon, so bought it, to give the series one more shot. The first thing to note is that this book is not told purely from Zoey's perspective. Most of it is, but there is a chapter from Stark, Heath and Aphrodite's POV's, a couple from the perspective of a Raven Mocker and several from Stevie Rae's.

First up, the good points. There is very little of the repetitive back story from Hunted here. There aren't the (very) questionable sexual scenes (there is one, maybe two, close calls, but compared to the threesome scene from Hunted, they're very tame). The far too cliched (and extremely annoying) gay characters Damien and Jack, seem to have been toned down here. They get a bit less page time, and when they are seen, they're not nearly so annoying. Finally, there is more progression to the overall story here than Hunted. The progression in Hunted could fit in to about 2 pages, here, there is enough to fill a chapter or two.

On to the bad. Zoey is still juggling three guys (and it would seem Stevie Rae is heading that was too), Heath (her human consort), Stark (her red vampire warrior) and Kalona...the bad guy, who's influence she's attempting to fight, with very little success.
