One small box of tricks but one enornous amount of power! The NUX PG-1 is an astonishigly great value guitar effects pedal in one ruggedly built box that offers at least 6 conventional effects pedals for the price of one - it even does more! The fully controllable effects include all the standard effects any guitarist needs from Distortion to Flanger to Reverb to Delay but the NUX PG-1 offers even more! There is a fully Chromatic tuner so the PG-1 can be used to tune any electronic instrument with any tunings. The built in metronome can be set to any tempo but if you do'nt know the tempo simply tap the beat of the track you are listening to into the NUX and the box will tell you the tempo for future practice. If you are learning your band's new song or simply want to jam along to a favourite track plug the your mp3 or CD player into the box via the Aux in and off you go. The NUX-1 runs off batteries (supplied) or mains adaptor (not supplied)
Top customer reviews
Here are the pros and cons I've come across:
Good quality effects that are capable of producing very worthwhile guitar sounds.
The aux-in/headphone-out sockets make it indispensable for practice. I plug in my tablet to supply backing tracks and play away for hours without (further) destroying my marriage
The guitar tuner is accurate and a nice little bonus
I've not tried the metronome or tap-setting for tempo, but they're a further bonus if you need them
Not so Good
As noted by another reviewer, there's no foot control, so it's not possible to change effects while playing
Effects can only be adjusted in volume, not parameters. So, for example, the delay is fixed, not variable
There's no idle-power-off, so if you forget to switch it off, you'll come back to a flat battery
You have to remember that you're not paying much money, so it's unfair to criticise the unit for its few shortcomings. For not much over 20 quid, I absolutely can't fault it.
Have since recorded a few track with it, and it sounds really great.
Also, if using a PC it will serve as a preamp too (did for me anyway)
Some great effects and nicely controllable
Only slight negative is: doesn't seem able to have a variable delay/echo, just 3 settings, but sounds great anyway
Nice touch having aux input and a headphone output for private playing
Overall, well worth the money -5 stars
