Good for Macbook.

As a previous reviewer stated, the product comes with a Mini CD with the drivers on. While this isn't great for slot loading drives, such as my macbook, you can always connect to the router with an ethernet cable, so it's not a problem to download the drivers from LM Tech's website. As a snow leopard user I generally head to sites to download the latest drivers anyway.

I bought this as my airport failed, and given the price it seemed stupid to send macbook off for repair. Worked brilliantly and I get a strong (97% or higher) signal in every room of the house.

Bought this on reviews read, had six five star reviews and no others when i ordered.There are plenty dongles cheaper but reviews not so good (read the bad ones).solid design and very small don't notice its pluged in except for the flashing l.e.d.As always great service from Amazon even with free super saver delivery only took 3days

Bought it as my inbuilt wireless for Laptop stop working. I am surprised by the size of this product compared to the other wireless adapters. Comes with an instillation CD , easy to install and then all ready to go . So far all good and I have to see what it does in the long term . Happy with the product - and definitely recommend to others .

Overheats when Downloading

This is great...just load up the micro DVD drivers for your mac, restart the mac and then plug it in. And it was hitting 85-90% of signal strength...

THEN, it started overheating, hitting 40% strength. I did a speed test and it was a little over half a Mb download speed. Now it won't turn on.

Junk. I should have got a proper wi-fi card for my MacPro when I bought it...I guess that's why they're £90 (plus install fees).

Very effective on an old Mac

I recently bought a new iMac, and our old G4 PowerPC iMac (which was new in 2004) running OS10.4 was duly despatched to a bedroom, out of reach of a hardwire connection; so what I wanted was an easy and cheap solution to get it back online - there is no Apple Airport card installed on this model as this was an expensive optional extra.

I was rather dubious about buying this product as I was worried it would not be compatible with such an old model, and that I'd be throwing my money away. However, it was set up and running in minutes and was very easy to install. Getting hooked up to the Livebox was a bit trickier though but this was mainly down to me not understanding all the settings and pairing procedures properly. Once we had it cracked, it was a strong signal even though it is at least 30 feet from the Livebox. Use and performance seems very straightforward, though we do think it slows down the computer a bit - but that might just be because we are used to the speed and effectiveness of the new Mac compared to the old one. On the whole, very pleased.

Also I ordered this on Wednesday night and it arrived Friday lunchtime even on super-saver delivery - can't fault that kind of service.

Terrible signal, poor Linux support, unreliable

I purchased this device primarily for it's Linux support since I was planning on doing some development on a Linux set up.

Re: Signal
The signal is poor on most machines under Linux, according to information I've found this is due to the device apparently being sent incorrect voltages (yet it's a device specific issue that appears to be related to the drivers being loaded before a certain time). However there are also terrible signal problems on Windows machines as well and the connection speeds are very very slow - forget about watching Youtube in high quality, especially on Linux, it's like being on dial up.

Re: Linux support
The drivers are not updated and source compilation is necessary, however it's an absolute nightmare and for a product that advertises it's Linux support they failed to use the most compatible of the Realtek chipsets and failed somewhere.

Re: Reliability
I've had it for just under 10 months and it's already started to fail and I am having to go out and purchase a new wireless card.

I bought this little dongle because my macbook can't pick up my router's signal throughout the house whereas my wife's netbook can.
Easy to set up despite the driver coming on a mini CD (which you can't put in a macbook's drive).
Works perfectly and can even browse the internet in the garden.
Cheaper than installing wireless access points/repeaters around the house.
