Product description

The latest version of the iconic BL700N battery charge utilises very high specification components throughout which results in a device of the highest professional standard. This genuine Technoline unit ** should not be confused with copy products with similar functionality which have no association with Technoline whatsoever **. The BL-700N battery charger has four independent charging channels each of which allow for independent charging, discharging, refreshing or testing of any AA or AAA rechargeable battery, both NiCd and NiMH. Perfect for charging odd numbers of batteries (1,2,3 or 4) Each battery slot has its own LCD providing real time information relating to the status of every battery so you can view actual charge/discharge current, terminal voltage, accumulated mAh and elapsed time per cell. You can perform different functions on each battery simultaneously. You can set the charge current at different levels for each of the four batteries and you can also charge different sizes (AA or AAA) at the same time. Select the charge current of your choice for a gentle or fast charge at either 200mA, 500mA, 700mA. Charging is specifically limited to a maximum of 700mA which is designed to protect your batteries from damaging over charging which reduces the life of modern low self discharge batteries. The Refresh Mode does a very good job of reviving tired, neglected or abused batteries by automatically charging and discharging until optimum performance is achieved. This charger is perfect for matching batteries into similarly performing sets and does an excellent job of identifying failing cells within a set. Supplied with a 12 month manufacturers warranty and suitable for charging any NiMH or NiCd rechargeable AA/AAA battery with capacity up to 3000mAh. UK version, UK power supply.

I can't really see the point of repeating the Product Description, like so many reviews throughout Amazon, so I shall keep my review simple.

Charging: This is not a difficult charger to use, so please do not be put off buying it. If you simply want a no fuss battery charger, then drop your batteries in and switch it on. By default, the charger will charger at its lowest charge rate (200mah) which is the safest and kindest to your batteries. Using the "Current" button you can toggle between the offered rates of 200, 500, and 700, although you will need to be quick to select a change from the default, before the charger starts charging. The 200mah charge rate will take longer to charge your batteries than the other two modes, but I would recommend it, especially for AAA batteries.

Display: There are several views that can be selected during the charge and most of the time you won't be paying too much attention to this plethora of information unless you have an issue with one or more batteries. This information is well covered in other reviews so I won't bore you. I had one AA battery that was clearly quite sick out of a set of four, all purchased at the same time. The displays indicated that although the battery would yield the full voltage when fully charged, it had about 10% of the capacity of the others. All useful information. The row of buttons directly under the batteries allows you to toggle different displays for each cell individually.

Modes: Other than charging you batteries safely, this charger offers a Test mode and a Refresh mode. The Test mode discharges your batteries then charges them to full charge, resulting in a numerical result of the accumulated charge, to compare to the manufacturers claimed capacity. The Refresh mode is a brilliant feature that will help pay for the purchase cost of the charger in no time at all. My aforementioned rogue battery was revived from a capacity of 227mAh to 2020mah using this mode. It works by a controlled method of charging and discharging each cell, until the charger decides that the "Full" charge possible has been attained. In my case it took three days to revive this old set of batteries, one of which was obviously very poorly. There are no heat or safety issues with this prolonged use, just let this little wizard get on with its job.

I love the way this charger can charge 1-4 batteries at any one time, of any combination of AA or AAA, of any capacities. Clever stuff and almost user proof, as you cannot overcharge using this charger.

My understanding is that these chargers sell out as quick as they come in. If you are considering one and it is in stock, don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed.

I would recommend these two products if you are in the market for some quality rechargeable AA's. I really cannot see anything on the market that can better them at this price.

For years consumers have been deceived in to thinking rechargeable batteries are low capacity, unreliable and generally no good. What a shame, then, when any battery aficionado will tell you that a quality NiMH cell is far superior to its alkaline cousin. Some of the cause of the deceit is due to cheap, poor quality chargers, which may undercharge, overcharge, don't account for differing existing charges, only charge in pairs or worse, in sets of 4. Duracell and Energizer, two of the world's biggest battery makers themselves are guilty of these sins.

So let me start by saying that I already own several chargers - a couple of cheap 'dumb' wall-wart chargers and two hobby grade chargers, one of which (Bantam BC8DX) is shockingly expensive. The expensive one has all the bells and whistles one could ask for. Dual channels, cell balancing, endless modes, endless battery chemistry compatibility, massive power, etc... but it is rather overkill for charging regular AA cells for around-the-house duty. It is also extremely fussy about the cells it will charge.

For a low price, the BL-700 delivers almost as much functionality as an extremely expensive hobby grade charger (albeit for AA and AAA cells only). Four independent charging channels, configurable current, four modes: charge, discharge, test and a very useful 'refresh' mode which can coax old and abused cells back to life. Along with this you can view the voltage of each cell individually, the current it is currently charging or discharging at, and receive an observed mAh (capacity) rating from the test mode - good for checking how much life an older cell has. Oh and it monitors cell temperatures and stops if they overheat! The list goes on.

The disadvantages I have observed are minimal, but worth mentioning:
> The 3v power supply means that you cannot power it from an existing 12v bench supply or from your car battery (or some other 12v field charging rig). It means you will require either a 3v capable voltage regulator or a 240v inverter for field use with 12v supplies.
> The interface is somewhat non-intuitive. You will be reading the instructions.
> As mentioned in other reviews, it will not charge cells that have dropped to a low voltage (Eg. from being deeply discharged or left without a charge for a long period). However this is a common affliction of smart chargers, the remedy for which is 30 minutes in a 'dumb' trickle charger.

I am impressed with this product, would happily buy again and will recommend to anyone who will listen. Buy this charger.

Chargeur acheter depuis 3 semaines.
