Her stories are character driven and writing is poetic; she uses a lot of simile's in her descriptions which not only adds colour but depth to the characters too. I'm left with no doubt of character feelings, circumstances, location. Her books give you all the feels and her writing makes you want to know the characters history, you are invested in their lives from the start. She has a way of writing dark that give you the shivers. Sending chills down your spine.
Told from first person POV the books are steady to fast paced in places. I am so enamoured with Q and the secrets he holds. Tess is no pushover either, I abhor weak female MCs. Tess has sass and is certainly a match for Q. Together they are electric. A powerful couple and I can't wait to see which direction Pepper takes these two characters
I've had this book on my kindle since December 2015 and never seemed to be in 'that place' to read it.
Last week, I needed something dark... I needed not to read page after page of love.
This worked perfectly.
I haven't felt pulled into a book since November last year, but after reading the first two pages, I needed to know more.
Tess and Q have a... challenging relationship. Their story is twisted, dark, haunting and yet... beautiful in many ways. Their darkness finds a mate, they show the other light and acceptance.
There are parts that are difficult to read, but by their very nature they should be.
I devoured this story much like Q devours Tess, and I am left wanting... needing more.
This is the first book by Pepper that I've read, and I'm off to download the next.
The basic story is of Tess and her boyfriend who go away on holiday to Mexico for the first time but while there she is kidnapped and sold to a man called Q. Q is dark and dangerous but there is also something about him, something that calls to Tess and has her questioning everything. If you are looking for a book which is a nice light read then this is not it but what I will say is that if you are unsure whether to try something different then buy it now, you will not be disappointed, It is a dark read but not as bad as I was expecting.
This book pulled me in to the story so much I could not put my kindle down, I even forgot to eat my tea because I was engrossed in the story, like I said there are twists and turns along the way and something in the story about Q that I was not expecting (and I'm normally so good at seeing them coming) At the start of the book I didn't think it was going to be my cup of tea but by the end I was so captured by this book I ordered the next one straight away. If your wondering why everyone is struggling to put the book into words, just read It and you will understand.
I loved the storyline and everything--minus the above mentioned thing, anyway--the kidnapping and the owner who isn't all bad. The romance between them. I think it was the sex side of things, I skipped through the first one (at least I think it was the first one? About half way through?) and skimmed the rest, looking for the more romantic take on it all.
Hmm. I'm not sure if I'm intrigued enough to continue the series. I'll think about in my sleep and see how I feel in the morning.
I'm so glad that I stood with it though and was soon hooked. I do normally go with a 'less full on' story but have been finding lately that I'm reading them without paying that much attention to them. This book had me gripped and I'm now off to find my next book from this series
The dynamics of the two, had me spellbound. just spellbound. It ripped me apart and put me back together, to be able to understand where his darkness came from, for me was the most hardening part. If not skimped upon a little. wrapped up in a nice little bow. Saying all that a truly outstanding work. WOW just WOW.
