Better known as Genmaicha in Japan this is a traditional blend of green tea with toasted rice.
Tea temple: 1 per person. HOT: Brew for 3 mins, best with water at 80 degrees C. (If you don't have a fancy kettle or thermometer to hand, grabbing the kettle just before it boils will do the trick). ICED: Just cover one tea temple with boiling water and infuse for 3 minutes. Remove temple and top-up glass with iced water. Whole leaves take longer to brew, but the little wait is definitely worth it. Straight - this interesting flavour is great on its own.

This tea didn't even compare. No hint of popcorn. Really disappointed. Sorry tea pigs but I won't be buying this tea again.
If you're new to teapigs then I can definitely recommend the brand. The little tea temples are adorable and release lots of flavour and keep the bits inside the bag not at the bottom of your cup.
Anyone who loves green tea already will no doubt appreciate this version but I also urge anyone who doesn't normally like green tea to give this one a go. As usual, the teapigs packaging is lovely and you can see all the tea leaves, puffed rice and popcorn kernals in the tea temple which adds to the experience.
To conclude: a really yummy tea, well-presented and it's green so it's good for you - simply brilliant!
On investigation I've discovered this type of tea is nicknamed "popcorn tea" as some of the roasted rice grains burst during production to resemble tiny popped corns (as in evidence in the transparent Tea Pig bag), so all is forgiven on that front.
Aside from that there's not much to say. A very nice rice tea. Just don't expect it to taste of popcorn.
If you are skeptical, I understand, but definitely give this a try! It would make an amazing gift for anyone who loves tea or someone who likes stuff that is a bit different from the norm.
