Important information
pure mao feng green tea
How does it taste?
This tea has a delicate natural taste of fresh summer air, peaches and apricots. A lovely clear pale green infusion, not the murky brown you often see with standard green teas.
Good if you're feeling:
In need of a make-over. Can’t afford rehab, liposuction or Botox? Why not settle for a nice cuppa? You may have heard about the many reputed benefits of drinking green tea, ranging from weight loss to anti-ageing - more fun than cosmetic surgery!
How we like it:
Best drunk as it is. No need to add anything.
Whole leaves take longer to brew, but the little wait is definitely worth it.
Allergens:
Dairy free, gluten free, suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Made in a factory that handles nuts.

Product description
Product Description
Call us soppy romantics, but we like this story. A young man and a beautiful young woman from a tea plantation were in love, but the local tyrant seized her as his concubine. She escaped, only to learn that the tyrant had killed her lover. Finding his body deep in the mountains she wept and wept until she became the rain, while her lover's body turned into a tea bush. Which is why, according to the legend, the area where Mao Feng tea grows is forever cloudy and humid the whole year round. All together now…ahhh! This tea is special, unlike any other green tea on the market. A green tea liked by people who don’t like green tea.

From the manufacturer
Good to know:
We make a big thing about real tea. By real tea, we mean BIG, whole tea leaves, whole herbs, whole berries, whole spices ...you get the picture.
Big leaf = Big flavour... simple!
You can’t fit big loose leaf tea into a normal paper teabag. That’s why our teas come in tea “temples” – a roomy bag that gives the leaves the freedom to move about and release their big, bold flavour. Loose tea – in a bag.
If you’re already a real tea convert, hooray… our work here is done. If not, now’s your chance to upgrade to something way better, and see what we mean by real tea!
We have 34 teas in all shapes and sizes. Not sure where to start? Try our mao feng green tea, it’s a game changer.

Lou say'sPossibly one of our most requested teas - and for good reason! Light & peachy, this delicate blend of mao feng green tea and real peach, screams summer BBQ's and picnics in the park. Perfect as an iced tea - splash of gin totally optional, but very much encouraged. |

This tea does indeed have a clearer (and greener) appearance (see my photo) and the taste is much better too; it's fresher and cleaner tasting. The bitterness is not entirely gone, but it's only very minimal near the end of each cup. You can tell this tea is of a much higher quality than the other brands and I can see why the price is higher. From now on, Tea Pigs Mao Feng is the only green tea I will drink, and I would absolutely recommend it.

These leaves are long, bright and make a lovely cup of golden tea. No bitterness at all, just flavour and goodness.
If you have been put off green tea because of the bitterness of some mixes, especially teabags, I suggest you try this.
I always re-use them once, saving the leaves for a second day, and there is no reduction of flavour.
Recommended - even for non-green tea drinkers.
I have been informed by a chinese person i knew that the second brew is often better as the tannins have been washed through on the first brewing. Good tea, bit expensive worth as a treat or if money not a barrier. Good second best for me is the Aldi copy which is slightly more bitter but better value overall. Still bravo to Teapigs as I do love this authentic chinese green tea . Delicious
But whatever you don't, don't then make the mistake I did of trying some of the imitation Tea Pigs out there. I tried the Twinings version, and a couple of supermarket own brands. They are NOTHING like the real thing.
I now have an Amazon Subscription to this stuff - it's the most cost effective way to buy it.
It comes in a large packet which is easily sealable and the leave are large and mid green - no dust. Perfect.
